Step 3

Image - flour.jpg

Ask an adult to pre-heat the oven while you sift the flour and baking powder together into a mixing bowl - use your large metal spoon to help you squash any lumps and push the powder through the holes of the sifter or mesh strainer.

Step 4

Image - margarine.jpg
Add the margarine then rub it into the flour and baking powder using your fingertips and thumbs so it looks like little breadcrumbs.

Step 5

Stir in the raisins then push the mixture out to the sides to make a well in the middle of your bowl. Slowly pour in the milk and water.

Step 6

Image - knead the mixture.jpg
Use your hands to knead the mixture into a soft dough. If it is too sticky, add a little more flour.

Step 7

Image - sprinke some flour.jpg

Sprinkle some flour on to a clean cutting board then roll out the dough to make a circle that is about 1/2-inch thick.

Step 8

Image - cutters.jpg

Put the gingerbread man and woman cookie cutters on the dough SHARP SIDE DOWN. Press them down to cut out the shapes. Then roll out the left-over dough to cut out a boy and girl with a plastic knife.

Step 9

Gather up any left-over dough, knead it and roll it out again, then use your plastic knife or other cookie cutters to make some more shapes.

Step 10

Rub a little margarine on to your baking tray to grease it. Lay your scone people on the tray and brush a little beaten egg on each one.

Step 11

Make some eyes and a mouth from raisins. Ask an adult to put the scones in the oven for you. After 15 minutes, ask them to take them out. Leave to cool then eat!
